How to "have a change of heart" and make it count

Every day we are bombarded with negative references - newspapers, television, the internet, colleagues, even friends. Research shows that, on average, most people think about 60,000 thoughts a day! With all that negativity running amok, it's not surprising then that most of that 60,000 thoughts end up being negative ones. My goal is to show you how to refrain from harbouring those negative thoughts. To change your mindset. To reframe the context of your situation. To show you how to "have a change of heart". How you perceive things, will be transformed. Your demeanor will change and you will only exude positive energy.

Your attitude determines your altitude

"You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you."

~ Sri Ram ~

I am reading a book by Nick Vujicic (pronounced 'Voy-a-chich'). This inspirational young man was born without arms and legs. He is the embodiment of the above quote and one which I have adopted as one of my philosophies in life.

Nick's determination and self-sufficiency was a constant inspiration to his parents, teachers and classmates. Although, Nick had the love and support of his parents, siblings, relatives and community, dark thoughts invaded his mind and brought him to the depths of despair. He could not see a way out and one night, Nick told his little brother that he would take his own life. In his book "Life withour Limits", Nick talks about this lowest point in his life.

"No matter how optimistic and determined and inventive I tried to be, there were some tasks I just could not do. I couldn't feed myself and I hated to ask other people to do it. Would I find a wife to love me? How would I provide for her and our children? How could I protect them if they were threatened?"

Nick's father comforted him and assured him that everything would work out. His trust in his parent, his faith in God and hope placed him on a path that has not only changed his life but also the very many individuals who have been inspired by his story and his journey. Nick has never looked back since. He has been travelling the world, speaking professionally, continually spreading his message and inspiration on how one can live a life without limits.

So, you DO have the power to change because only YOU have the power to make that choice.

Key Tips

Here are some XENsational tips to help you "have a change of heart":

Choice

You wake up and you think "Life sucks" 'or "OMG! Not Monday again". From the very moment that you embark on that thought pattern, you begin to create the expectation that things will go wrong in your day. Choose your state of mind instead. Follow us on Facebook and read our XENsational quotes to kick-start your empowering day.

XENthusiasm

Watch an inspirational video. Better still, get XENthusiastic and watch the video on our home page.

Laughter

Surround yourself with laughter. Think of something funny. So funny that you experience a belly-aching-tears-flowing-down-your-cheeks kind of laugh.

Generosity

Consider doing just one random act of kindness. Whether it is helping a neighbor to walk her dog or your friend to move house, helping someone in need is sure to change your view of life.

Determination

Make a decision to embrace change. Take action on one of the above tips.

Confusion precedes Clarity

"All great changes are preceded by chaos."

~ Deepak Chopra ~

What do you do when chaos affects your life? Chaos challenges us to dig deeper. To find our inner strength or rather that intangible X-Factor which resides in all of us; which helps us to overcome. To make the decisions to "have that change of heart" so that we can rise above our challenges.
